Port Alberni
Port Alberni sits at the head of the Alberni Inlet, Vancouver Island's longest fjord, and it's our home port. The Somass River salmon runs funnel millions of fish past our docks every year — which is why this working harbour town calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World.
Every GrayStone trip departs from Harbour Quay in the heart of Port Alberni, five minutes from downtown and an easy 2.5-hour drive from Nanaimo or 3.5 from Victoria. Our fleet, our crews and our lodging are all right here.
From the harbour we can be into productive salmon water in minutes, watching black bears work the shoreline within the hour, and out among the whales of Barkley Sound the same morning. If you only have one day on Vancouver Island's west coast, Port Alberni is the place to spend it — and if you have longer, our Harbourview Cabin and Angler's Crew House keep you steps from the dock.
