Our story
About GrayStone
GrayStone Adventures was built the way most good things on this coast are built — slowly, by hand, and with a lot of weather in between. What started as one boat and a love of the Alberni Inlet has grown into a multi-vessel operation running whale watching, professional fishing charters, coastal tours and harbourside lodging from the heart of Vancouver Island.
We're based at Harbour Quay in Port Alberni, where the Somass River meets the sea and the fishing fleet still heads out before dawn. From here, our captains run the full sweep of the westcoast — down the longest fjord on Vancouver Island, through the Broken Group Islands, past Bamfield's boardwalks and out to the whale-rich waters off Ucluelet and Tofino.
Every member of our crew is Transport Canada certified, wilderness-first-aid trained, and — more importantly — genuinely obsessed with this place. We'll show you where the humpbacks lunge-feed, where the big chinook stage on the tide, and where to find a white-shell beach with nobody else on it.
Rugged doesn't mean rough around the edges. It means real: honest boats, honest weather, honest fish counts, and the kind of day on the water you'll be talking about for years.
